De Sembrar Choral Network

The Children’s Coral Network “De Sembrar” was born in 2014 out of the desire to offer childhood access to the foundational experience of being part of a community working towards an artistic goal and to unite in a message of unity and peace.

Its members, aged 7 to 12 years old, hold weekly rehearsals and, through learning songs, receive notions of vocal technique and musical literacy in a playful manner, connected to practice and expression, with the aim of achieving a full experience of music.

Throughout its 10 years of existence, this network has seen choirs emerge in numerous neighborhoods and municipalities in the Province of Buenos Aires and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

The groups are small and emerge according to the need, curiosity, and desire of the people who approach and integrate into the circle of existing groups; the evolution of each choir is intimately related to its practice time, its history, which is nourished by the experience of the complete circle of choirs “De Sembrar” each time we integrate all the groups into a common song, whether in rehearsal mode or concerts.

Their repertoire includes music from all times and places. Music from the region and indigenous peoples holds a special place, but also those that connect us to other cultures. We prefer songs that, through their poetic message, call us to reflection and nurture a deep love for people, Nature, and respect for Life in all its forms. We appreciate both the care of memory and its relationship with the present, encouraging today’s poets, composers, and teachers to write for children’s choirs. The groups are led by a guide or a pedagogical couple, who have been trained or are participating in our Choral Direction and Musical Creation Workshops.
